A History of Hot Springs Village SCAT

Village SCAT Transportation is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to providing affordable, dependable, and efficient public transportation for Hot Springs Village residents.
Background Information:

• 2007: A group of interested HSV residents formed a committee to investigate the feasibility for public transit for their neighbors and friends.

• 2009: Central Arkansas Development Council (CADC) agreed to provide vans, office space, insurance, and maintenance. Village SCAT offered to provide the volunteers to schedule rides and drive.

• In March of 2010 we commenced operations with one van provided by CADC. We had a total of thirty volunteers. By April of 2011 we were operating a second van with over fifty volunteers.

• We currently have approximately eighty volunteers and operate five vehicles to provide over 5,000 rides annually. Four of these vehicles were purchased directly by Village SCAT, including one wheelchair accessible van. These additions to our fleet would not have been possible without the generous financial support of our community.

Board of Directors

The Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the Organization. The Board delegates responsibility for day-today operations to the coordinator and committees. The board shall have up to nine and not fewer than seven members. The Board receives no compensation other than reimbursement for reasonable expenses.
